About the Association

The Delhi Sepaktakraw Association (DSTA) is the recognised governing body for Sepaktakraw in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act and listed on the NGO Darpan portal of the Government of India, and is affiliated to the Sepaktakraw Federation of India (STFI), which is recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

DSTA organises Delhi championships and open events, conducts selection trials for national championships, supports district units, and fields Team Delhi at national competitions including Khelo India.

The association continues the mission of its late President, Shri Yogender Singh Dahiya — who also served as President of STFI, Deputy President of ASTAF and Assistant Secretary General of ISTAF — to take Sepaktakraw from neighbourhood courts to the Asian and world stage.

Often called ‘kick volleyball’, Sepaktakraw is played on a court similar to badminton with a net at chest height. Using a woven rattan (or synthetic) ball, players may strike it with their feet, knees, chest and head — but never their hands or arms.

The sport blends the acrobatics of gymnastics with the strategy of volleyball, producing breathtaking overhead bicycle kick spikes that thrill spectators. It is hugely popular across South and Southeast Asia and features at the Asian Games.
